The Parish Respect Life Committee
It seems that some people, even some Catholics, have the mistaken idea that being prolife just means being anti-abortion. But the core of being prolife is accepting that each and every individual is made in the image and likeness of God. (Genesis 1:27) Therefore, they deserve to be treated with great respect and dignity.
Pope Francis said when speaking to the World Council of Churches on Oct. 4, 2013 --“We are called to reach out to those who find themselves in the existential peripheries of our societies and to show particular solidarity with the most vulnerable of our brothers and sisters: the poor, the disabled, the unborn and the sick, migrants and refugees, the elderly and the young who lack employment.”
With the Popes words as guidelines the Committee has recently sponsored both the parish Midnight Run Committee and the work to support the Dominican Sisters in Iraq. These are just two examples of what it means to be “prolife”.
